Crucial Travelling Tips You Should Know

The world is not as dangerous as the media makes it to be. In fact once you put your anxiety aside, you will discover that this world is beautiful, exciting, and fascinating. Why should you be born in a certain village/town, be educated there, get a job there, get married there, have children in that same village, die there and finally buried there. Oops! It’s so boring. Get out of your comfort zone and travel the world and see what Mother Nature has in store for you!

Here are some of the most essential travelling tips you have to put in mind…

Travel Tips

Pack carefully and slowly

Assuming your travelling starts tomorrow, pre-ensure you have packed all that is needed for your safari on the eve night of the big day. When packing be composed and don’t pack hastily. Remember, Hurry, hurry has no blessings! You might forget very crucial travelling items which you can’t do without. To be certain of what you will need in your travel, I recommend you have a list of the items you need to carry.

Wake up Early

Whether it is the awaited day of travelling, or it is at the hotel you lodged after your flight to the travelling country, don’t ignore the saying which says ‘the early bird catches the fat worm’. Wake up early in the morning and ensure you are relaxed and well composed. A little more slumber in your comfort bed can lead to the cancellation of your ticket fighter a little more sleep in that hotel can make you visit a crowded attracting site which, is boring isn’t it?

Have a Travel Insurance

It is always very important to have a travel insurance just in case something unwanted happens to you in the travelling country. Most travel insurances will cater for your money in case they get lost, medical treatment if you become sick, hearse transportation and arrangement just in case you…God forbid!

Register with your Embassy

If there’s a problem in the country, this will make it easier for your government to contact you and get you to safety.

Scan your major documents

Your visas, identity card and passports are very crucial documents. Photocopy or scan them and send to your email address.  This is a wise way to keep your docs safe.

Get guidebooks

Guidebooks usually include maps, key words or phrases, and give you enough detail on certain sites that you won’t need to purchase the pamphlet at the venue. And download apps before you travel. Avoid downloading charges from your wireless carrier and get your apps before you leave.

Research events going on in your destination

This will keep you updated and not missing the events going on in the city. Fun things like festivals, ceremonies and natural events. Also be sure to research as a few national dishes to try. You don’t want to leave the country without experiencing what it’s known for.

Separate your moneys and credit cards

My mother used to warn never to put all eggs in one basket but I didn’t understand why until one day they all broke and guess what… some visitors were waiting to carry them. I pitifully looked at myself and learnt a lesson the hard way! If you happen to lose all your money or credit cards just because you had put them in one place, you will honestly not enjoy the tour. Separate your cash monies and credit cards, because once you lose all your cards on the road it is very difficult to get replacements, and being without money during your travelling is hectic!

Interact with locals

During your travel ensure you interact with the people around you and try best to make new friends. At least try to learn their language and learn about their customs (if you really have ample time). Most importantly don’t be self -contained. Enjoy their cuisines although it may be different from your local food.

Be a self “paparazzi”

You are your own celebrity in that foreign destination and if you don’t take photos of where you are, who will! Take as many photos as possible and ensure you have a backup just in case your camera get lost or stolen. Also ensure you have at least two chargers just in case one gets destroyed or stolen.Photos do well in future memory.

Research on the climate and weather

Some places that you might visit have a contrary climate and weather pattern from your mother country. So ensure you’re acquainted with the temperatures of the visiting country which will help you not to carry summer clothes when your visiting country is in its heavy winter season.

Always have local cash

Not every place takes credit cards. Especially important places like trains or buses. So ensure you have the local cash. By having local cash in your wallet/purse you will also give to the ‘honest needy’ persons. (But don’t go giving out your money carelessly-some people may pretend to be beggars and they aren’t.)

Volunteer in community works

Don’t be like that traveler who didn’t want even to aid in some community works. The locals ignored his existence in their community and what a difficult time he had when asking them some queries about their country. Most locals will feel loved and love you back when you join them in their daily works. Don’t be so mean not to give out your $2-5 to some honest needy people.

Keep contact with your family

Don’t be lost in the travel adventure and forget you have a family and friends back at home. At least make it a sacrifice to call them twice in a week informing them what attracts you most in that country. This will let them feel as though they accompanied you in your adventure.

Practice tipping

Whether it’s in the restaurant or a park, give some tip to those serving you. This will help you be-friend them and they can assist you later on in your tour.

Keep good notes

You might not remember where and where you visited. So it’s always important to keep good and tidy notes of the conversation you had, people you met and feelings about new experience.

With these best fundamental travelling tips let’s meet in the touring world!

Turkey’s tourism in decline following high threat of terror

After facing terror attacks and accusations of aiding terror groups, Turkey's tourism is now on a drastic decline. Turkey was once a popular holiday destination for Brits, boasting culture, cuisine and a stunning coastlines.

But following a spate of shocking terror attacks around the world, Brits are now questioning where is safe to travel.

And with Turkey under a HIGH LEVEL of attack, the country’s tourism is now on a decline.

Turkey Tourism

According to Express, TravelSupermarket’s Travel Trends Tracker has found that Turkey has dropped out of the top ten destinations for Brits to holiday.

In October, Turkey faced a devastating terror attack in the capital of Ankara. At least 95 people have been killed and around 250 wounded in the deadliest terror attack in Turkey’s history after two explosions targeted a peace rally.

The country’s government have also faced accusations from Russian’s President Vladimir Putin that they are ‘accomplices of terrorists.’

Putin claims the country have been buying oil from ISIS - claims Turkish president Recep Erdogan labelled as ‘slander.’

It’s also been claimed that Turkish borders have been the primary thoroughfare for fighters of all kinds to enter Syria. Its military bases have been used to distribute weapons and to train rebel fighters. Many, if not most, of the estimated 15,000-20,000 foreign fighters to have joined the Islamic State Isis) have first flown into Istanbul or Adana, or arrived by ferry along its Mediterranean coast.

On Turkey’s Government website, it states: “There is a high threat from terrorism. Attacks could be indiscriminate and could affect places visited by foreigners.”

"On 1 December in Istanbul a parcel bomb near the Bayrampasa Metro station injured one person.”

Indigo wins 'India's Favourite Domestic Airline' title by travel website

Travel portal TripAdvisor today announced the results of the fifth edition of the India Air Travel Survey 2015, collected from over 1,700 respondents.

The study runs comparisons with respondents from the United States, who also ran the survey earlier in the year. As per India's survey findings, IndiGo Airlines has emerged the hot favourite in the domestic airline category for the fourth consecutive year with runner-up being Jet Airways for the fifth year - the margin between both airlines at a mere 0.41. In comparison, IndiGo had a lead of 8% over Jet Airways in 2014 and 6% 2013. Air India and Vistara came third and fourth on the list respectively.

Indigo Airlines

The India Air Travel Survey 2015 survey was conducted online in December 2015 among TripAdvisor's survey panel in India. The US Air Travel survey was also conducted online among TripAdvisor's survey panel in that country and comparisons have been drawn basis the common questions posed to the audience in both the surveys. The website clarified that the results were only perception and don't reflect any actual safety record.

Nikhil Ganju, Country Manager, TripAdvisor India, said, "Indigo has had a dream run with Indian consumers for years now and deservedly so, as TripAdvisor's annual India Air Travel Survey reveals that the accolades are based on winning on things that matter the most to Indian consumers, i.e. value for money and on-time performance. However, it is clear that Jet Airways is fighting back and seeing results. This year's survey also reveals interesting information on flight-shopping preferences - noteworthy ones being the increasing share of consumers now buying on sale (45%) and the significant utility of price-comparison - 74% respondents indicated the importance of using a comparison platform."

Travel Tidbits from the survey:

In terms of safety perception Indigo seems to be well above Jet. But when respondents were asked to rate their preferred airline on specific parameters, Jet was voted the best on, Food and Beverage, In-flight Entertainment, Both cabin crew appearance and cabin crew service quality, Check-in process at the airport, Seat comfort/Leg room, In-flight Shopping, Customer Service and Overall Experience.

Indigo won with a high margin on: Time taken to deliver baggage & In-cabin maintenance.

When it came to the online experience (website), Jet scored significantly higher than Indigo.

On the all-important parameters of 'value for money' and 'on-time performance' - Indigo still remains the clear winner - indicating that Jet has it's task cut out when it comes to being seen as great value by the price-conscious Indian flier.

Some interesting revelations by the survey are:

- Only 6% are brand loyal to one website, while another 35% shop at between 1 to 2 sites.

- 74% said it was 'very important' to use a flight search price comparison site - indicating perhaps an opportunity in the market.

- A good 45% have bought flight tickets on sale - revealing the growing popularity of these tactics among India's airlines.

- 20% say that they are willing to even change their destination or travel dates if tickets are on sale.

- However, there is work to be done by airlines on how these sales are perceived - 35% indicate that they would not buy during these sales as final amounts end up higher once taxes and other various charges are added.

- Respondents indicated which fees they despised the most: The seat selection fee comes in at No. 1, followed by paying extra for check-in baggage. 32% also dislike paying for in-flight food and beverage.

- Less than 10% have NOT used their smartphone for flight-related activity.

- 72% have researched flights, 60% have checked-in and 52% have actually booked on mobile.

Digital Travel Sales are Booming in China and Across Asia-Pacific

Digital travel sales in Asia-Pacific will rise by almost 20% to $139.12 billion in 2015, according to eMarketer’s latest forecast for digital travel sales around the world.

This rapid growth, fueled by heavy activity within China, is set to continue, and Asia-Pacific will surpass Western Europe next year and North America in 2018, when it will become the largest digital travel sales market in the world.

As with retail ecommerce, China’s digital travel market once again leads the region thanks to a massive population, a rising middle class who enjoys traveling, and with high levels of mobile adoption. In 2015, China will generate $65.85 billion worth of digital travel sales, representing yearly growth of 28%. Sales are set to rise to $131.30 billion in 2019.

eMarketer forecasting analyst Christopher Bendtsen commented, “Although China’s economy is slowing down, China’s total travel sales are expected to increase dramatically as the growing middle class find travel more affordable.

China and Indonesia lead the region in growth

“Mobile booking’s rising popularity, combined with the success of online travel agencies, will fuel even more significant digital travel sales growth there. India and the major developing countries in Southeast Asia will witness similar trends. This creates huge opportunities in the digital travel space, and in particular, mobile.”

eMarketer’s forecasts and estimates are based on an analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from research firms, government agencies, media firms and public companies, plus interviews with top executives at publishers, ad buyers and agencies. Data is weighted based on methodology and soundness. Each eMarketer forecast fits within the larger matrix of all its forecasts, with the same assumptions and general framework used to project figures in a wide variety of areas. Regular re-evaluation of available data means the forecasts reflect the latest business developments, technology trends and economic changes.
